Yesterday, Stella had her first significant time alone in her basket entertaining herself. I was in the kitchen and kept checking on her as she lay in her basket. Our big girl! Our fashionista wore her new light green cardigan with a furry pink elephant and some jeans. So dang cute. She and I are also playing games with one another and I try all day to get smiles from her! She loves baby massage and baths so today I got her a new bathtub we're going to try tomorrow. It has a sort of hammock that her old one didn't have which I hope will make bathing easier in the kitchen sink.
We have our best Mom/Baby group to date - I shared some emotional challenges, learned about a Dad's group once a month on Sundays for Ron and learned a new swaddle method called Bat Wing! Stella is in her basket right now and NOT able to wiggle out of it. Speaking of wiggling, IT happened. A parents or humans worst nightmare!!!! I went to sleep on couch with Stella in baby swing (which is low to ground) and I awoke with her on the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, the damn floor. She apparently slipped down and out of her swing. She was asleep on the floor and never cried, I was asleep right next to her and I KNOW I would have heard her. My Dad says this shows she tough. I think I was calm until 15 mins later when I woke up Ronnie in bed to tell him what happened. I couldn't stop sobbing and thinking I was a bad Mommy. Thank God Ron reassured me all was okay as did my Mom later when we talked. After talking to other women there are the horror stories of a baby falling from bed onto a phone and going to ER or the funny one of kid falling out of crib and rolling under it so that Mom couldn't FIND the kid. Could have been worse and we survived unscathed aside from the scared feeling I saw when she was on floor. Thank goodness for a large blanket swadle and tough baby!
We start our Baby Playgroup next Monday which I'm excited about. Since I'll have Mondays off from work, Stella and I can play, play, play! I am trying to take advantage of being on maternity leave and hit all the restaurants and such Bunk Sandwiches! This restaurant has been on the hit list of all local magazines and even on Food Network. Chicken sandwich with bacon and avocado was a hit with me but apple/vinegar coleslaw was yuck! I want to go back and try others. The service was also outstanding! Including a free cupcake :) A- from me.
